The ERF winter season at the Masini Theatre in Faenza closes, on Monday 19 March (9.00 pm), with “Schumann à la carte”. On the stage with a selection of Schumann pieces for cello and piano, the duo composed by Silvia Chiesa and Maurizio Baglini.
Maurizio Baglini (Pisa, 1975), winner at the age of 24 of the “World Music Piano Master” of Montecarlo, has been a guest since then in the most prestigious world festivals. He has an intense career in Europe, America and Asia: over one thousand two hundred concerts as a soloist and many others of chamber music. Since 2008 he has been promoting the project “Inno alla gioia”, which he performs Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in the transcendental piano transcription by Liszt. Baglini has a vast repertoire ranging from Byrd to contemporary music. Lover of Mussorgskij and Rachmaninov, he worked with Silvia Chiesa on an album and a tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini, Tra la carne e il cielo, which was taken around Italy. With Silvia Chiesa he has also formed a duo; they perform everywhere, sometimes accompanied by others singers or musicians.
The cellist Silvia Chiesa, from Milan, benefits the esteem of the public and critics. Passionate, convincing in her interpretations, she has often interpreted pieces by artists who have been unjustly forgotten, or not rightly considered. She rediscovered two unknown pieces by Nino Rota. As soloist she performed with the best conductor, she also recorded various live concerts and studies, among other a CD published with Sony Classical. Since 2005 she performs in duo with Maurizio Baglini.
As the protagonists of the winter season closing concert at the Masini Theatre of Faenza, the duo will perform a small selection of Schumann’s pieces. Schumann à la carte is, as the title suggests, an event that goes beyond the organic or philological approaches of an artist. As in a luxury restaurant, served by the best chefs, the public will sit at the theatre to taste the dishes that are on the menu that day.
