On July 27th (at 9.30 pm) the Grupo Compay Segundo arrives in the Piazzetta Trepponti of Comacchio, for a great event of Cuban music, tradition and culture.
Founded in the 1950s by the historic singer and composer Maximo Francisco Repilado Muñoz (Compay Segundo), the band put in contact the general public with the traditional Cuban music. Compay Segundo himself chose, before his death, the band’s musicians as his successors to spread his art.
Today, one of his sons, Salvador, is part of the group, and some musicians who played with their father at the time of their success in the 90s. The Grupo Compay Segundo over the years has accompanied important artists such as Silvio Rodriguez, Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa, Charles Aznavour, Pío Leyva, Teresa García Caturla, Isaac Delgado, Santiago Auserón (Juan Perro), flamenco singers Martirio and Raimundo Amador, Lou Bega and the Algerian Khaled.
In the concert in Comacchio, the Grupo Compay Segundo will present the classic hits of Cuban and Latin American music. From “Besame mucho” to “Hasta siempre comandante” passing through “Dos Gardenias” to the famous “Chan Chan”.
