Wednesday, March 14 (at 21:00) at the Teatro Ebe Stignani Imola, the great cellist Giovanni Sollima, accompanied by I Solisti Aquilani. They will perform pieces of Vivaldi, Donizetti, Bach, Boccherini and Sollima.

Giovanni Sollima is unanimously known as a virtuoso cellist. Sollima creates, communicates, transmits emotions, composes pieces with Mediterranean rhythm or derived from baroque or metal.

He has collaborated with great personalities of the music scene as Claudio Abbado, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Philip Glass, Dj Scanner, Patti Smith. Sollima performed, as soloist or with ensemble, in places as Carnegie Hall (New York), Wigmore Hall (London), Accademia di Santa Cecilia (Rome), Summer Festival of Tokyo, Expo in Shanghai, Biennale of Venice.

For dance he collaborates, among others, with Karole Armitage and Carolyn Carlson; for the theatre with Bob Wilson, Alessandro Baricco and Peter Stein; for the cinema with Marco Tullio Giordana, Peter Greenaway, John Turturro and Lasse Gjertsen. In 2012 he created, with the composer and cellist Enrico Melozzi, the project 100 cellos. He teaches at the Accademia of Santa Cecilia in Rome and at the Fondazione Romanini of Brescia. Sollima plays a 1679’s Francesco Ruggeri cello.

For this event at the Stignani Theatre, Sollima will be accompanied by the orchestra I Solisti Aquilani. For the excellent level of performances, the high number of concerts performed in various location, the wide repertoire, the orchestra I Solisti Aquilani is considered by public and critics one of the most prestigious international chamber ensembles.
