Tracing the history of cinema through the history of music in cinema: this is the idea that La Toscanini Next, conducted by Roger Catino, takes to the stage on Wednesday 29 July in piazza della Molinella in Faenza (9.30 pm), with the concert entlited “Da Cinecittà a Hollywood”.

A unique opportunity to retrace some of the most famous songs in the history of cinema, with music by Goblin, Nino Rota, but also by John Williams and Europe, and with a special mention for the great Luis Bacalov, a dear friend of the festival.

Starting from Cinecittà, Toscanini Next has chosen an unusual piece in the history of Italian cinema, that Profondo Rosso by Goblin which was the unmistakable theme of the homonym  Dario Argento’s film. And from Goblin we will pass to the great Nino Rota, one of the most prolific Italian composers in the history of cinema with a sophisticated and unique style; of which La Toscanini Next will interpret some of the most famous songs, such as Canzone arrabbiata, La strada, La dolce vita, Le notti di Cabiria, Il padrino, Amarcord e Otto e ½. Da Cinecittà a Hollywood, says the title: and to complete the passage that goes from Rome to the US West Coast, there is no better ferryman than Luis Bacalov, a musical genius who has worked on both shores, entering the history of international music (and cinema). For the occasion, his soundtrack for Il postino, Troisi’s latest film, will be interpreted.

And through Bacalov we will arrive at the most canonical Hollywood, the spectacular one: from John Williams with his work for Indiana Jones to the Europe with Final Countdown and finally with Bill Conti, author of Rocky music. In addition, to conclude with a crescendo, another reinterpretation is planned: the result of the talent of Roger Catino, conductor of La Toscanini Next: Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony in rock key.
