The opening concert thet will take place on Saturday 6th July (at 9pm) among the millennial walls of the Church of San Giacomo in San Domenico with the great Uto Ughi is already sold out. But for those who want to meet the Maestro, on Sunday 7 July (12 noon) at Palazzo Fantini in Tredozio he will receive the 10th ERF career award.

For the 2019 opening concert, the famous violinist will meet the South Korean Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra and its conductor Nanse Gum, performing one of the most popular violin concerts, the Concerto in D major op. 35 of Tchaikovsky. The “Italian” Symphony of Mendelssohn and the Italian premiere of Unified Friends for String Orchestra, a solo strings piece by Korean composer Hojun Lee, will also be performed.

Now in its tenth edition, the ERF Carreer Award has awarded many friends of the Festival, great artists such as Maxence Larrieu, Ramin Bahrami, Bruno Canino and Catherine Spaak … On Sunday 7 July the prize will be awarded to Maestro Ughi who, together with the artistic director Massimo Mercelli, will talk about music and art.

A special occasion to get to know Maestro Ughi and his magnificent violins: a Guarneri del Gesù from 1744, which has a warm sound with a dark timbre and is perhaps one of the most beautiful “Guarneri”, and a Stradivarius from 1701 called “Kreutzer” because belonged to the homonymous violinist to whom Beethoven had dedicated the famous Sonata.

Before the award ceremony, at 10.30, there will be a guided tour of the wonderful Italian garden of Palazzo Fantini and wine tasting by the Comparini Agricultural Company of Empoli.
