The soul of Maximo Francisco Repilado Muñoz (Compay Segundo) lives in the Grupo Compay Segundo and expresses the cuban spirit. The group took his name after his disappearance, perpetuating the memory of one of the best known artists in the world. While holding concerts everywhere, the Grupo Compay Segundo usually play at El Salon 1930 (now Salon Compay Segundo) at the Hotel Nacional de La Habana.
So the great musical themes as Macusa, Bilongo, Veinte Años, Las Flores de la Vida and the mytichal Chan Chan prove once again that the work of Maximo Francisco Repilado Muñoz, interpreted by Grupo Compay Segundo, gives love and joy to millions of people from all over the world.
The children of Compay, present in the “Grupo”, manage the House of Culture in Habana for the Cuban Ministry of Culture, with direct assignment by Fidel Castro, who awarded them the title of “world ambassadors of Cuban musical culture”.
