France, love story, difference of belonging: we are in Gaul, the Roman Empire is ready to conquer. Norma is a priestess daughter of the Druid leader, who had a secret relationship with the Roman proconsul Pollione, from whom she had two children. The tragic nature of this “drama in music” is masterfully emphasized by the music of the Catania-born Vincenzo Bellini.
